KCRW is a public radio station in Santa Monica. Their morning show "Morning Bacomes Eclectic" is known as one of the last independent truly influential radio shows around. (That is to say, it's not owned and programed from afar by Clear Channel.) The show and it's DJ, Nic Harcourt are credited with discovering such artist as Coldplay, Dido & Norah Jones.

There was an article a couple of weks ago in the NY Times Magazine about the show. (although I've benn a fan for much longer) :)

From their website:
http://www.kcrw.com/show/mb

Morning Becomes Eclectic is committed to a music experience that celebrates innovation, creativity and diversity by combining progressive pop, world beat, jazz, African, reggae, classical and new music. Recognized nationally as a forum for promoting a wide range of music ahead of the curve, the show has become a very attractive whistle stop for both established and emerging artists from around the world.
